Import Extras
Here you can find a list of everything you may do when designing your import for free!
All of these options are optional, meaning you do not have to use them.
But when you do use them, it is recommended you mention it during Design Approval to make the process more smooth!

Nuances
Information
Adding Nuances is an optional thing you may do when designing your dinosaur.
Nuances are faint gradients of the same hue and can be used on both the base coat of your dinosaur and any marking genes,
excluding white markings like Piebald and Appaloosa. Alternatively, if your dinosaur has a white base we allow for skin-pinking Nuances, explained further below.
When using nuances, please specify if you're using them for the base and/or what genes are affected by them during the design approval progress!
We reserve the right to reject a Design if the Nuances are too strong or if you haven't told us that you're using them.
Base Nuance
Base Coat Nuances always must be fully blurred and appear with gradient edges and may never be too strong to avoid mimicking Sable or Pangare!
They may be either lighter or darker than the base coat but must always be of the same hue!
These Nuances always layer below all genes. In this example they display as a lighter underbelly.
You may choose if you want the Nuances to display as a gradient or subtle accentuations of joints and other soft points of a dinosaur.
Nuances may come from the top or the bottom.
Marking Nuance
Nuances affecting marking genes may display with a faint gradient and must always clip to the gene, it may not leave it at any time.
They may be either lighter or darker than the gene color, but must always be of the same hue!
Please make sure that the nuances are never too strong to avoid mimicking gradient,
they should be barely visible!
In this example they clip to Stripes, creating a faint lighter gradient towards the bottom.
Skin Pinking
Dinosaurs affected by Leucism, Albinism, alternatively with White base coats or white genes such as piebald,
may optionally have skin-pinking nuances as seen on the example.
These spots should display in the softer areas of a dinosaur where the skin is thinner.
Skin pinking may be any natural flesh colour, including the base coat, but should be faded to mimic transparent skin.

Edge Modifications
Information
We allow for some optional special effects on some edge types!
These are namely Color Burn for gradient edges and Edge Blurring for hard-edged genes.
Continue reading for a proper explanation and the rules for each modification!
Color Burn
If you have a gradient edged marking on a dinosaur and your art program has color burn layers, you may add this effect to that gene!
Explanation: Lets say you have Pangare on the design like in the above example.
You may choose to add a color burn to the edge of it.
This is best achieved by duplicating the gene layer, in this case Pangare, and erasing the inner parts of it.
What remains is a gradient border clipping to the marking. This layer can then be set to color burn.
Important! Please make sure that the colors you get from Color Burn always remain looking natural and don't go too far off in hue to the marking color!
Edge Blurring
You may choose to slightly blur or smudge parts of hard-edged genes!
The above example shows Piebald's edge being affected.
When using Edge blurring, make sure to have the marking remain natural and not to overdo it!
It should only be blurred/smudged in a few spots.
Textured Edges on Fur
Hard and Soft edged genes may have a fur texture if they present on Fur or Feather coats.
Lighter, Darker, Ghosting
What is Ghosting?
Ghosting is an optional thing you can do when you design your dinosaur,
which is not to be confused with the gene Ghost!
A few markings are able to "ghost", meaning they can discolor when touching another marking gene that sits underneath them.
They will always discolor in the same hue and shade as the genes that touch them, and not wildly discolor to any color.
Spots exhibiting a ghosting effect, affected by the color underneath them
Genes that are allowed to have a ghosting effect:
Lighter and Darker versus Ghosting
You may have seen the "Lighter", "Darker" and "Lighter or Darker" rules while looking at gene guides:
COLOR RULES

These rules signal that the overall Brightness/Shade of a gene can either be darker than the base colour picked, lighter than the base colour picked or some genes allow the choice of either.
This does not mean that a gene can discolor because of a gene that's underneath it like ghosting!
It should remain one solid color unless specified otherwise.
In short, only genes that are able to have the ghosting affect may discolor from the genes underneath it.
Feather and Fur Discoloring
Any gene that is touching the fur or feather coat on your import may optionally slightly discolor
in shade where it touches the feather or fur areas.
Similar to Ghosting, this makes the marking gene a little lighter or darker in shade.
Like Nuances, this effect should not be too strong!
Example showing Underbelly and Stripes taking on a darker shade on the feather coat
Import Halos
You may add a Halo around your Import's outer lines once you finished your design.
This is easiest achieved by merging all layers minus the background layer to a new layer, putting the new layer
below everything else and then creating an outline around it.
You may choose any single color for your Halo, any multiple colors, or you may thicken the outer lines a little.
What you do is up to you as long as the Halo remains subtle enough to not take away from the Design and appear too strong!
Custom Backgrounds
You may create a custom background for your Import!
There are basically no rules on these backgrounds except that a land creature should not appear to be floating.
Custom backgrounds should be of the same size that our Imports are, meaning they
should not exceed 3840x2160 pixels when uploaded to the site.
These Custom Backgrounds may be uploaded merged with your Import or you may optionally
ask AberrantKapro to create a custom background item for you to use.
Keep in mind that if your Import is not transparent you need to manually switch out Backgrounds
in Design Updates, as on-site Backgrounds require a transparent Import.
