What is Ghosting?
Ghosting is an optional thing you can do when you design your dinosaur,
which is not to be confused with the gene Ghost!
Spots exhibiting a ghosting effect, affected by the color underneath them
A few markings are able to "ghost", meaning they can discolor when touching another marking gene
that sits underneath them.
Genes that are allowed to have a ghosting effect:
- Carp
- Dusted
- Outline
- Primal
- Spots
- Stripes
Lighter and Darker versus Ghosting
You may have seen the "Lighter", "Darker" and "Lighter or Darker" rules while looking at gene guides:
COLOR RULES

These rules signal that the overall Brightness of a gene can either be darker than what it sits over, lighter than what it sits over or either of those.
This does not mean that a gene can discolor because of a gene that's underneath it!
It should remain one solid color unless specified otherwise.
This is to clarify that aside from natural colors, you can also pick a color from your base slider, or
something that's darker or lighter than the base slider in case you have an unnatural base, for your gene color.
In short, only genes that are able to have the ghosting affect may discolor from the genes underneath it.
