Free Markings

Want to add some more pop to your Import? We offer a few free markings that you may add to your design at any time!
These are not inheritable and will not show up on your Import's geno- and phenotype.
Please make sure to state what Free Markings you are using during Design Approval, if any.

Note that non-physical Free Markings do not show above topmost genes like Piebald and Hollow,
they will layer beneath them but they can go on top of most other genes.

Minimal White and Black

Min-White-Black

Minimal White and Black creates small, natural accents on the muzzle, tail, hands and feet of a creature.

The only colors allowed for this Free Marking are White,
Off-White, Black and Off-Black. You may use either or, or both.
They should follow the tint of the base color, meaning no greenish
Off-Black on a red base!

While you don't need to go with the lightest shade of white or the darkest of black,
the shade you choose should still look White/Black in relation to the base color.

You can choose to only add a small speck or fill out the entire range, as long as the
markings look natural.

The ranges for every species can be found here.

Freckles and Moles

Freckles

Freckles create small spots or a few dark moles scattered on the face of a creature,
mimicking facial freckles or moles in real life.

If you mimic real life freckles, they can present with just a few spots, or cover most of
the face, but should always look naturally scattered and may not be too big.
To avoid mimicking Dusted when mimicking freckles, you may only add one or two
little freckle spots somewhere on the body of a dinosaur.

You may add one to three Moles on the face of a creature, and up to two Moles
somewhere on the body.

Freckles can be lighter or darker than the base color, or be any natural color that is
of either a lighter or darker shade.
Moles may only be darker than the base or black.

Extra Feathers

Free-Markings-Feathers

You may add feathers as a physical Free Marking to any Import,
no matter what coat type they have.

The feathers should be of a natural and traditional shape, meaning they should be
shaped akin to bird Tail- or Flight Feathers.
They may only cover roughly 30% of a creature's body and at maximum without the
use of items be as large/long as the example above shows.

Extra Feathers follow the same color rules as the Free Areas on Feathers, meaning
they can be any color and have any patterns as long as these are not unrealistic
shapes or symbols.

Scales

Scales
You are allowed to add small scale details to your Import as long as they follow
the appearance of traditional scales seen in modern-day reptiles and birds.

These scales are not considered physical details and cannot mimick Heavy-Scaling,
meaning you may not change or edit the lineart in any way.
They should also not be extensive enough to resemble Carp and may
not mimick fish scales.

Scales should be slightly lighter or darker than the base color, or what they sit over.
They may not be black if your creature does not have a black base, and they may not
be white if your creature does not have a white base.

At maximum these scales may cover roughly 50% of the creature's body.

Padding

Padding

With Padding you may add flat markings resembling Paw Pads in modern day
animals to the bottom of your creature's hands and feet.

They should follow the contours of the palm or sole and may
not go outside of those areas.

Padding can be any natural color that is a lighter or darker, or lighter or darker than the base color.

Remember that this is not a physical marking, thus you may not edit the lineart!

Whiskers

Whiskers

You may add short whiskers to any species!
These should resemble the whiskers found in real life animals like seals or cats.

Whiskers may only be placed at the end of the snout or by the eyebrows.
While they can go onto the face of flying creatures,
they should not be added to beaks.

Whiskers can be any natural color.
