Body Sections

You may have noticed that we use words like "Topline" and body parts like Head, Neck, etc. in our guides.
This Guide aims to explain these terms and contains links to a visual representation for every species!

First off, creature body parts are divided into six sections:

Hands & Feet, Limbs, Tail, Body, Neck and Head

The colors above correspond to the colors of each section found in our visual guides here!
The link will lead you to a sta.sh gallery with different subfolders to make finding the species you're looking for easier.

Now, for the other two important things mentioned in the guides:

Topline and Underline

The colors above correspond to the colors of the Top- and Underline found in our visual guides here!
The link will lead you to a sta.sh gallery with different subfolders to make finding the species you're looking for easier.

Topline refers to the areas on your Import that can be referred to as the top half of it, which includes the spine and the top of of the legs, shoulders and ribcage.
Dorsal may also refer to this.

Underline refers to the areas that make up the underside, like the belly or throat.
Ventral may also refer to this.

Please keep in mind that the ranges for the Top- and Underline are usually just eyeballed by staff during design approval and serve more as a general guide!
We do not expect you to 100% stay in range.

What if I can't find a section on the species I am looking at?
Some Species may be oddly shaped and have no tail or limbs! In this case, those will be left out in the guides and while you design them.

Do I have to follow the sections strictly while designing?
Nope! While we ask that you still try to remain mostly in range to what the guide of the gene you are designing says,
we won't ping you if a gene slightly bleeds out of range.

What does it mean when a guide is referring to withers?
Like in horses, the withers are the top of a creature's shoulders.
Some of our marking Genes will start from there.
